On Tuesday, the House Ways and Means Committee began the process of unsealing relevant testimony and evidence from a whistleblower inside the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), who first claimed that the Department of Justice (DOJ) was actively interfering with the tax crime investigations against Hunter Biden.
According to Just The News, Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.) has scheduled a session for Thursday morning where the members of the committee will vote to release the testimony and evidence presented by IRS supervisory criminal agent Gary Shapley. The vote will also aim to waive the 6103 privacy requirements that normally protect any American’s tax information from being released to the public.
The evidence that would be unveiled comes from Shapley’s six-hour testimony last month, along with 7 documents amounting to 23 pages that summarize the evidence against Hunter, thus serving as the precursor to the investigation itself.
The decision comes after U.S. Attorney David Weiss, the man behind the Hunter Biden tax investigation, announced on Tuesday that Hunter Biden had agreed to a plea deal; the troubled son of Joe Biden will plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges of failing to pay taxes, and will also undergo a probation program that might result in the elimination of a third felony charge of lying on a firearm application.
Hunter’s plea deal has already been widely criticized by many in the political spectrum, highlighting it as an example of a two-tiered justice system that overwhelmingly favors Democrats but is far harsher to Republicans. By contrast, President Donald Trump was indicted on 37 federal charges regarding alleged possession of classified documents that he declassified during his time as president, in a highly publicized indictment by Joe Biden’s DOJ, led by Attorney General Merrick Garland and Special Counsel Jack Smith.
