The special counsel overseeing the Hunter Biden probe will reportedly seek to indict the president’s son by the end of September, according to a new court filing.
The indictment relates to gun charges, in which it is known that Hunter falsified information on a background check to purchase a firearm.
“The Speedy Trial Act requires that the Government obtain the return of an indictment by a grand jury by Friday, September 29, 2023, at the earliest,” Wednesday’s court filing reads. “The Government intends to seek the return of an indictment in this case before that date.”
Hunter had been offered a deal in which he would plead guilty to a pair of misdemeanor tax charges, but would have a charge related to possessing a firearm while being an illegal drug user dropped, so long as he completed a two-year period of probation.
That arrangement eventually fell through in dramatic fashion, culminating with the news last month that Attorney General Merrick Garland had appointed a special counsel to investigate the case.

Special Counsel Plans To Indict Hunter
The plan to indict Hunter is a result of the possibility that he falsified information on a background check to purchase a gun.
A Politico report in March of 2021 indicated that Hunter responded “no” to a question on a Firearms Transaction Record that asks, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?”
Hunter was discharged from the Navy Reserve after failing a cocaine test and has an open and well-documented history of drug use, much of it witnessed by the public’s own eyes thanks to videos and images from his infamous laptop.
“Lying on the form is a felony,” Politico reported at the time, “though prosecutions for it are exceedingly rare.”
They also reported that Secret Service agents tried to intervene in the case by confiscating the paperwork involved in the sale of the gun. Hunter, it seems, has been protected by federal officials for quite some time.

Critics Remain Skeptical
What would normally be a sign that Hunter is finally being held accountable has actually raised doubts among critics who have seen the President’s son slither his way out of trouble time and time again.
Fox News contributor and radio host Guy Benson was looking for more details before jumping to conclusions.

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) suggested that they’re just setting Hunter up for another plea arrangement.
“They’ll give him a sweetheart deal all over again,” she said. “Why don’t we indict him on something serious?”

Better yet, let’s see President Joe Biden – who personally met with at least 14 of Hunter’s shady business associates over 16 occasions between 2010 and 2018 – indicted.
But then, isn’t this what it’s all about? Gun charges, tax charges, so long as everybody takes their focus off the Biden money laundering operation that has been ongoing for years?
“Let’s see the details,” one critic wrote. “There has to be a catch.”

Political observers, of course, have a right to be skeptical.
Aside from the sweetheart deal offered in June, special counsel David Weiss also reportedly didn’t plan to charge the President’s son at all, until whistleblowers came forward with claims that the DOJ was meddling in the case.
The New York Post reported that Weiss originally “was willing to conclude the investigation without even as much as a plea deal” until IRS whistleblowers came forward and “accused the Justice Department of interfering.”
Perhaps they’ve now been forced into taking action, but does anybody here actually think Hunter Biden is going to see a day in prison?
