White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Tuesday said Joe Biden is not interested in “hardening schools” in the aftermath of the mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.
Republicans have pitched measures to beef up security at schools such as single point of entry, fencing, metal detectors, and armed security.
Joe Biden and the Democrats are pushing back on the security proposals because their goal is to ban guns.
“The problem is with guns,” Karine Jean-Pierre said tp White House reporters on Tuesday.
Jean-Pierre said Joe Biden is not interested in making schools more secure.
“There’s been conversation about hardening schools, that is not something that [Joe Biden] believes in,” Jean-Pierre said.
